Transitioning From Worker to Supervisor With a Transition ResumeWhen transitioning from a worker to supervisor, it is important to have a resume that includes all of the skills, work experience, education and awards that will be important for the position. Because the transition between positions can take several months, it is essential to have a well organized, updated resume on hand that can demonstrate your abilities and accomplishments.Transforming your resume into one that transitions for worker to supervisor should include, among other things, a chronological listing of the roles and responsibilities that you have held over the years. The company will use this information in conjunction with your personal qualities to develop a short list of possible candidates for the position. For instance, if you held a leadership position in the organization, it is likely that you would have been considered for a number of other roles. Your transitional resume should contain a detailed list ing of these roles.There are two ways that transition resumes are written. One way is to simply write the information on the blank page in chronological order, which is easy to do when the information is still new. The other way is to compile all of the relevant information, which will be challenging for you, but makes for a more compelling resume. Compiling the information is not as simple as clicking a button or writing down notes; however, once you get it down, it will be very helpful to everyone who reads it.Transitional resumes are divided into sections. One section contains the heading, 'Employer-Employee Relationship.' This section lists all of the duties that you performed during your employment and notes all of the jobs that you held. The next section is called 'Prior Work Experience,' and lists all of the roles that you had over the years and how long you were employed with the organization.Next, there is a section that is similar to a chronological listing of positions wh ere you received the previous job title. Finally, the section will list any awards you may have received in the area of work that you want to transition into.One of the most common errors in transitional resumes is a failure to identify all of the roles that they need to transition to and it is equally important to identify all of the roles that you are transitioning into. The next section will contain the transition title, which should include the job title and the job responsibilities that you are transitioning into.Before writing transition resumes, it is important to read through the guidelines from the Human Resources department of the company where you are working. These guidelines should outline the kind of work that you will be doing once you transition to a higher-level position. Your transition resume should show what you will be doing and why.If you feel that you are unsure of what is expected of you, speak to your manager about your transition and their own knowledge of the transition process. By using these steps, you will be well on your way to developing a transition resume that will help you transition smoothly.

Why Traveling Makes You More Hireable Like most women, I’ve often been told that I can’t have it all. When I first announced my intention to go traveling, concerned friends and family lined up to tell me what a mistake I was making. How gaps in my CV would put employers off hiring me. How if I didn’t get started on my career now I’d never make it to the top. They were wrong. Far from making me unemployable, traveling gave me the skills and experience employers want. I’ve backpacked all over the world and established myself in my chosen career as a writer. Can’t have it all? Rubbish. Why Traveling Makes You More Hireable What’s Impressive About an Extended Holiday? Nothing, if you spend three months on a beach sipping Mai Tais. But plenty of global companies would prick up their ears at the sound of a candidate who had immersed themselves in the culture of a big business market like China or India. That Spanish you picked up making your way up Machu Picchu? Impressive. Those top-notch organization skills required to navigate your way out of Vietnam? Impressive. The independence and self-motivation you showed by getting on a plane, alone, and heading out to see the world? Impressive. What About The Gaps in My CV? Traveling is not a gap. It is a time in your life spent learning new skills and you should treat it just like a job on your CV. It’s all about how you spin it: tell the interviewer about the resilience and self-sustainability you displayed, rather than how hard you partied at Full Moon. Alternatively, you could actually work abroad. Teach English, manage a hostel, help out in a dive school… the possibilities are endless! Not unless you’re, well, flighty! Quitting jobs every six months to travel might be a turn off for some employers, but one long trip is no big deal; frame it as the achievement of a personal dream and you will impress employers with your dedication. Even multiple months-long trips spaced several years apart will simply put you on par with the standard job-hop rate of Millennials. If you’re desperate to spend more frequent time away without constantly dropping out of jobs then the obvious answer is to combine the two. Find work abroad or seek out employers with who frequently send employees on international trips. In this globalized age, workers who are willing to get on a plane at a moment’s notice are more of a hot commodity than you may think. Doesn’t Everyone Travel These Days? It’s true that as traveling has become easier, faster, and cheaper. Destinations once regarded as ‘exotic’ are now par for course. But that doesn’t mean your experiences can’t be interesting enough to stand out from the crowd! Seek out places off the main tourist trails, try something different, involve yourself more in the local culture, learn a new skill… the possibilities are endless. Besides, having experiences in common with people you talk to isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Stumble upon an interviewer who has seen the same part of the world as you and I  guarantee its a conversation starter. Plus all that reminiscing means they’re certain to remember you when making their decision!

Be proud of who you are: Tequila shots aside, it’s important to be aware that having personality is okay. Share photographs of your achievements, important moments and even that  charity fun-run you did. Beaten to it - by the Dalai Lama - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog Were currently writing a book about happiness at work that will: * Describe why happiness at work is important to both companies and employees * Show concrete methods that are proven to work * Attempt to energize the reader to work towards being happy at work The writing is going beautifully. Im finding my voice and the right style, and Im simply churning out pages. Writing 10 book pages takes me about half a day. And fortunately I have a lot of help in the process, from fellow happiness-at-work-member Lars Henrik Nielsen. And Ive just discovered that the Dalai Lama has written a book called the art of happiness at work. Dammit! Theres a fine review of it here.
